Mount Kapayas: You Took My Breath Away

Created a new YouTube channel for my travel videos – Girls On Global Adventures , Check it out! I post new videos weekly. I am currently traveling through Southeast Asia.

Ill be honest, I dont really go trekking or climb mountains a lot but when I do, I always see to it to make the best out of it. I may not be a professional climber but I do know the basics and I always practice safety.

In this particular adventure thou, I was lucky enough to be trekking with one of the best trekkers there is in Cebu, and ill forever be grateful. For the chance and guidance they provided all through out the experience.

I must say, I was pretty much psyched to be climbing one of the highest mountain peak in Cebu and quite scared at the same time. But it all turned out fine, we may had experienced some bumps but nothing much that we cant handle and the event was a big success. Sure we do have some points to consider improving but overall it was an experience of a lifetime.

The trail started easy, it was just like walking in the park but it gotten really hard with our backpacks and the heat of the sun. That’s where the lightbacking comes in places, never really bring stuff that aren’t necessary it’ll serve as a deadweight. (Not a big idea to bring lots of stuff).

The summit thou, it took my breath away! Quite literally but its really nice to have such exeperience. Some peaks are easy to reach, this one is not one of them. You have to climb your way up through the stone wall (cliff if not with trees that surrounds it). It was really challenging and nerve wrecking. But once I get to the top, it was really worth it. The view was so amazing, 360 degree view of the north, I was in awed for a couple of minutes. Not everybody gets to see this amazing creation, right at that moment I felt really blessed and humbled, and realized how such small space I occupy in this big big world. But that specific moment, I was on top of it, and I couldn’t be anymore prouder.

Puerto Galera : Luxurious Life In A Yacht

Puerto Galera is the northwestern most municipality in the province of Oriental Mindoro, Philippines. It is located at the southwestern end of the Isla Verde Passage, about 130 kilometers (81 mi) south of Manila. This coastal town is well-known among tourists for its numerous pocket beaches and many snorkeling and Scuba diving spots. The area was designated a Man and Biosphere Reserve of UNESCO in 1973 and has some of the most diverse coral reef diving in Asia. The marine environment has benefited in recent years from the influx of tourist dollars. This has seen a huge reduction in the number of fishermen in the area, as they gain higher revenue from tourists. – www.wikipedia.org

October of 2010, during my semestral break from school, I was invited by a friend to have a vacation in Puerto Galera  for a while. I was 20, in the peak of my youth, very eager to experience something new, who am I to refuse such offer. So I packed my things, was so excited for the said trip.

Crazy Day 1 – October 19, I booked a flight at Cebu Pacific Air to Manila, stayed for a day at my friend’s place, the day after we were all set to go to Puerto Galera where my friend’s father’s yacht was docked. We almost got lost on our way to Buendia Station. We rode a bus bound to Quiapo when we’re suppose to get the one bound to Makati. It was a very crazy day, We rode three busses and MRT just to get to Buendia Bus station, where Batangas bound busses are found. It was already noon time, when we were able to get in a bus bound to Batangas port, and get in a boat to Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro. The trip to Batangas took us three hours and two hours boat ride to Puerto Galera. Got there by 6pm at Muelle Pier looked for a nearby hotel to check in at Badladz Beach Resort for the night. AT 7pm we dined out at the bar near the hotel and met new faces, had some beer with our new acquaintance and played some billiards. Our new acquaintance were all good people, they’re oldies but still very jamming. They even invited us for a bbq party at Puerto Galera yacht Club the night after. At 10pm we called it a night and went back to our room.

Day 2 – Life in a Yacht (October 21, 2010) We woke up at 9am it was a bit late. Had some american breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant. After 15 minutes or so,  my friend’s dad fetched us on a dinghy and we were off to the yacht, where we stayed for our entire stay. I was a bit surprised when I first saw the boat, it was beautiful. It looked small on the outside, but the interior was big. Her name is Cosmos,  a catamaran. I was left awed when I first stepped in the boat, it was very luxurious – a dream come true. Bes (my friend’s dad) was very accommodating and friendly. we shared a story or two, he was a great host. We spent the rest of the day resting, just stayed in our room and unpacked our stuff. The at around 6 pm we started preparing ourselves, had to go to Puerto Galera yacht Club, for the “Barbecue Friday”, eating dinner there. The reception in the restaurant was great, the people and the yacht club members were all so friendly, to the extent that the Commodore (sort of the highest rank among club members) of the Yacht Club personally welcomed us, he even mention our names. I really didn’t know that he was the commodore, he talked to us as if he was just an ordinary member of the club. Later did I found out what he was and I admired him, very hospitable host, very humble and down-to-earth. The best thing in the PGYC was that the people were all approachable and friendly. We made a lot of friends that night. We even played pool with them. Later that night, dinner was served,  I ordered Baby back ribs it was so delicious, superb taste. At some point I had some beer and gin tonic. Then we went back to the yacht, we gazed at the stars as we lay on the roof of the boat, my first day in the sea had come to an end. It was a dream came true, just laying there under the stars and the moon, enjoying the night chill.

Life in c : Oct. 23-28, 2010 – the days gone by very fast, with our daily routine and activities there were never dull moment. We always wake up around 10am, tired from our nightly movie marathon. Then we would eat bread and fruits for breakfast. We would watch different TV Series while the sun was on its peak. Then off to Puerto Galera yacht Club for Lunch, the food and drinks are pretty expensive but that’s how it was, they’re used to living that lifestyle and I had to deal with it during my entire stay. I think what made that vacation memorable are the activities we did during our stay. I pretty much made a lot of “first” in Puerto Galera, here’s a list of activities we did:

1. Early morning tennis game at nearby clubhouse – we woke up earlier than usual, prep the dinghy and went ashore just two minutes across where Cosmos was anchored. We played lawn tennis at  Elizabeth Hideaway Hotel, what’s funny about that morning was they were looking for someone who they thought went missing the night before. He lives in a yacht near the Cosmos, the night before while we were star-gazing we heard some commotion in their Yacht (two people arguing). I also thought he committed suicide or something, the yacht club member commissioned a group of divers to look for him underwater, in trying to retrieve the body thinking he drowned. It turned out, the man was just in Sabang (Red District), too drunk to go home.

2. Participated in a soccer clinic for kids – The yacht club sponsored a soccer clinic for kids, the participant was mostly children of foreigners who chose to settle in Puerto Galera and married a Filipina. It was all fun, watching the kids having a good time and making friends with other kids is such a great sight to watch.

3. Went snorkeling; my first free dive experience – we borrowed Bes’s dinghy and went to a fish sanctuary just 10 minutes ride. It was fun, my very first snorkeling experience with all the gears (Snorkel, goggles and fins). The sun was on its peak we were on our swimming attire, we loved our sun-kissed skin, The marine life was highly diverse, corals and the fished were breathtaking.

4. Boat ride to Sabang  – one afternoon we decided to find another place to eat, so we went to Muelle pier and rented a boat to Sabang. The boat ride was about 30 minutes, it was kinda scary, we were in an open water, the waves were huge to the point that it almost flip the boat. The ride was fun too, we get to see some famous resorts along the  way. I must say, the Coco Beach Island Resort was quite an impressive place to stay, I bet staying there would cost much too. Upon our arrival in Sabang, we instantly went straight to La Laguna Beach Club, the food there was great we had pasta, played some pool, and drink some beer. Then we stroll along the shore, the white sand was very fine. I noticed some famous hotel in Sabang, the likes of; Atlantis Dive Resort, Portofino Beach ResortBlue Ribbon Dive Resort, etc.. Sabang is very famous to tourists, and as expected the foods and drinks were very expensive. After sometime, we decided to rent a motorcycle and went home.

5. Watched movie outside the boat under the moonlight and the twinkling stars – One time we decided to watch a movie outside the boat, the sea breeze was very cold but still a memorable experience, shared a beer or two, and chips.

6. We would asked Bes to take us to the port and stroll around we usually eat fruits on the boat, luckily the market was just a walk away from the port. We would walk for minutes and haggle for prices in the fruit market, buy some home-made wheat bread and stack some beer, it was fun really.

All Souls Regatta (Oct. 29, 2010) – not an ordinary day in Puerto Galera, specifically at the yacht club. It marked the 1st day of the All Souls Regatta 2010″, a yacht race. Another first for me, not only that I can witness a yacht race for the first time, but I am actually part of the race. We sailed in one of the yacht  named Lenny 2. It was surreal, so unbelievable. Never did I expect I will experience such adventure in my lifetime. On the day of the regatta, we woke up earlier than the usual time, bought some snacks and drinks, had some sun screen and we were ready for the race. The sun was so hot but it didn’t bother us in any way. We started to sail at around noon as the race begun. All along I thought sailing was as easy as abc… no it wasn’t, In fact it was very difficult. You have to be one with the wind, and know when to pull down you sails. All the participating yacht, (more or less 20 yacht) had to follow one route,  a very difficult route. All in all, it was a fun, memorable, tiring experience. I loved the afternoon sea breeze, the tan, the new acquaintances I met while in the race, the new experience, the huge gigantic waves, the adrenaline, the excitement.

It was FUN spelled all caps, in bold letters! After five hours, we could have won the 3rd prize for the first day if we weren’t got stock maneuvering the sail at the last phase of the race. What’s important was we finished the race safely. Then we went back to the boat to change our damp clothes, then we’re bound to the yacht club for a dinner celebration.-for the successful day 1. The beer was on the house, the food was superb, fun-filled night. Everybody was all ecstatic and in festive mood. I almost decided to stay for the 2nd day of the race, It’s just that my flight back to Cebu was scheduled on  the 1st of November, had to go back to Manila in time for my flight.  I was kinda upset at the end of the night.

Goodbye paradise (Oct. 30) – Woke up a little upset, turned between going back to Manila and staying for the regatta. My friend was asking me to stay, I really liked to stay, I still want to join the second day of the race. But then I thought it was a waste of resources if I’d stayed, we would have to go to Sabang to reschedule my flight (too much of a hassle). What we originally planned before we went to Puerto Galera was that we’ll be going back to Manila together, we didn’t expect the regatta and so my friend decided to stay. I borrowed the key of the condo and went back to Manila alone. For the last time we borrowed the dinghy to the port, I decided to take the fastest route (motor-ride to Sabang). When I got their I bought a ticket for a boat ride to Batangas, I still had enough time so I went to the market nearby and bought several Puerto Galera souvenir shirts. I didn’t notice the time while I was in the market, next thing I knew, I was running towards the pier! I almost got lost but I made it on time. Then there was the one and a half boat ride to Batangas port, my seatmate was kinda annoying kept on conversing with me and I didn’t want to be rude. Finally Batangas! Noticed a lot of people in queue, only then when I realized it was the last day of October, many people go to their respective provinces for the UNDAS. What a luck I had that day, my seatmate was the same person I was sitting with back in the boat, the entire trip I pretended sleeping just so I won’t feel obligated to converse with him.  I was in a bus bound to  Buendia, another three-hour bus ride, it was a long ride. Around 5 in the afternoon when finally we stopped at  Buendia station, then  decided to take a jeepney. For experience purposes I pretended to know the street of Manila. Luckily, Baclaran church is such a popular place that I didn’t have a hard time looking for it. From there, I knew my way back to the condo. I settled my things in the room and went back down to eat my early dinner. I was a bit lonely, alone in an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar faces. I knew I missed a lot during the second day of the regatta. My phone wasn’t working that time, I can’t even text or call. My loneliest day ever in Manila. I decided to sleep early that night but luck wasn’t on my side, I didn’t feel sleepy at all. So I drafted a letter to my friend, to show how grateful I am for the experience and left it on the reading table. Morning came, ETD 0800HR – it was that time again to say goodbye to Manila, and prepped myself for the holidays back in my province. Such a great vacation, that was – indeed,  It was a week-long in paradise.

Looking back to 2010, I wished I had captured those  moments in Puerto Galera, wished I was able to freeze those memories in an image, I wished Gopro cameras are already available that time. Nevertheless, I have them all saved in my mind and there they will stay forever.

Memories From The Past : Digging Up Year 2011

I was checking my Facebook account when I came across a button that says “Notes”, I can vaguely remember what it’s about and so I clicked it and was surprised to know the content of that page. It was actually some sort of Journal back in college. And today I am publishing one entry from that page entitled ” A Year That Was 2011″.

It’s 2011 baby – Just like every other year, it started with a new year’s celebration. It’s the only occasion my whole family actually celebrate at home (with lots of foods and fireworks), Only yearly occasion my parents and brother would allocate budget and we get to bond like every other families. And it’s always a memorable one, It’s always a good way to start another year. Two weeks after was the celebration Sinulog. It is a yearly celebration in Cebu, Philippines. Where you get to see colorful floats, 9 days Novena mass at Basilica del Sto. Niño. Parties at every street corners, Experience the street dancing and street concerts. And the Mardigras on its final day.

February – month of hearts – for some but not for me. I was more than excited for the National Olympics, February 17-25, I represented my school for the Lawn tennis women’s category together with my 4 other teammates. It was held in Ilagan, Isabela, Philippines. It was a dream come true, I meet new friends, Experienced new things, got to Flunk school and get away with it, and at the end of that trip, lessons learned.

March 25 – Graduation ceremony Finally, I graduated from my 5yrs course Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. I was recognized as the Ambassador for sports – Lawn tennis women. All the hardwork, stress days, sleepless nights, patience, worries and tears. All paid off with degree and diploma in my hand. I know my parents are proud of me.

May – Started my first real job But not in the field I wish I’d land into. Nevertheless, got my first salary, Lived independently, Meet new friends/colleagues (cool people), learned many things, got to present in a room full of political people, people never in my life I dreamt on discussing something with. I went out of my comfort zone and embraced the real world. The world of employment, Where mean people are in abundance.. *laughs* In a more serious note, it introduced me to reality. To the pros and cons of life, to fresh experience, with fresh faces, Same old me but more mature.

Then I had to cut my employment days short.. “RESIGNED from my job” Got to focus on my review for the licensure exam for mechanical engineer. Back to the good old me, sleepless nights, allowances, house rents, problem solving, stresses, anxieties, excitement..

For four months I strive hard, sleepless months studying, memorization, stress, anxieties, but at the end of it, i all my sacrifices, all I’ve ever hoped for, the biggest goal I’ve ever had, and I failed. But looking on the brighter side, I gained lots of new friends. People I never expected I’ll get along with, people who touched my heart one way or another. New experience, new faces, new places. Lessons learned: you can’t always get what you want. But you’ll get what you deserve, and after every downfall, you will always learn to pick yourself up.

It was late October I finally decided to let go of the love I had for someone. finally tried to move on. And finally put what we had to my past. If I have any consolation, when we were together I felt I was very wanted. I was cared, I was liked. Only it didn’t end up the way i like it to be. For a while I was hoping things will be fine but then it didn’t. And I had to deal with it. And I did great. I was hurt, but it doesn’t mean I was broken. I’m tough, and I don’t break that easy.

November- started looking for a job Realized how hard it is to do so.. Allowance & energy draining:-(

December- holiday season The month went quickly, Next thing i know it’s christmas eve.Celebrated it with family, foods, Bonding, Movie marathon, fun.fun.fun. Then came 26th, get together with high school batchmates. And just like old times, t’was fun. like good old days.

A year that was 2011… Collection of new experience. Happy memories as well as sad, new friends, realizations. And learnings… At the end of 2011, i’ll leave a qoute that goes…

“It’s not the prize nor the score. It’s not the fame, nor the win. It’s never the glory or people’s cheer. It’s not even how far or how fast you are. Life is a race and we should run. But in the end what matters most is WHO YOU ARE & WHO YOU BECOME”

Spread positivity.:-)

Having read my “2011 Highlights” I realize how far I have gone since that year, although I still have failures and challenges along the way I know I can make it through.

20 Things I Do on Weekends

Lets be honest here, there will always be that day when you got nothing to do and you’re left with that one million dollar question “What should I do now?” Here’s my top 20 list of the things I usually do.

1. Read a novel – you probably want the short one, that kind you can finish reading within three, four hours tops. Comics will do too, you might get interested with the illustrations and other visual information. You can also check out Amazon Ebook for their vast collection of Ebooks.
2015/01/img_4070.jpg

2. Music Trip – just listen to the song you like, sing along every-now-and-then a good way to just let the moment pass. If you’re into those trending Electronic Dance Music (EDM) Get hold of your Jam Plus Bluetooth Speaker, put that Animal and Tsunami on repeat. Or if you’ve been looking for that childhood soundtrack and for some reason couldn’t get hold of any copy you can check Music List, and see if you can find one.

2015/01/img_4072.jpg

3. Movie Marathon – you can choose from your Movie Collection
and just sit there while watching a movie. A documentary will suffice if you’re more into story of some aspect of reality, or for purposes of instruction or maintaining a historical record. And you can even check out those Nicholas Sparks Movies you’ve been stacking for years. Or those hilarious American Pie Movies
series. Either way, it will surely take a lot of your time.

2015/01/img_4074.jpg

4. Watch Your Favorite TV Series – or if you’re probably sick and tired of re-watching your favorite movie, why don’t you move your fingers and search in your files the TV series you’ve saved for the long vacation. It’s probably the best time to watch episode after episode, season after season. Say the all time favorite Friends Series.
who can resist Phoebe Buffay, Rachel Green and the rest of the group. Or you’d rather seeing Queen B and Serena of the Gossip Girl
. Or the highly acclaimed Big Bang Theory, you will surely laugh your *ss out. Personally though, I have a stack of TV series in my   the likes of Prison Break, ArrowBlacklist , Graceland, New Girl, Nikita, RevengeDexter my list can go on & on, I’m a sucker for TV series.

2015/01/img_4075.jpg 5. Window Shopping/ Online Shopping – what better way to let the time pass than going to the mall and window shop, it’s also a very effective way to relieve your stress. Or if you have budget with you, do yourself a favor and buy yourself something fancy. You can also check out some offers at Amazon with huge discounts.

2015/01/img_4119.jpg

6. Write a blog – for those people who have imaginative minds and like to write a lot, you can check out the internet and sign up to a blog site and start publishing your own article. You can draft anything you like, from stories of your life to you dreams. Your imagination is unlimited, it’s up to you how to make it unique as possible.

2015/01/img_4121-0.jpg

7. Read your past journals – If you had lived your earlier years writing in a journal or a diary, it’s probably the best time to read those entries and try to reminisce the feeling of being young. You might be surprise how naive you were before, and laugh at yourself as you realize how silly you were every time you spotted your first crush.

2015/01/img_4123.jpg

8. Dig in your photo albums when – Many people probably would agree how fun it is to look at your photos back when you were that cute, clumsy, and thin little fellow. Seeing how you transform from that lanky girl & boy to a voluptuous sexy woman and sturdy guy. Sometimes, looking at pictures can bring bad memories and makes you remember someone you once loved, but lets focus on happy memories though. (Spread good vibes)

2015/01/img_4124-0.jpg

9. Write a poem – Some people are just born to have that talent of making up poems that can touch people straight to their heart, but their are some that can write beautiful and meaningful poem specially when they are inspired and so in love or they are depress and they need to channel those unsaid words and emotion into a heartfelt literary work of art.

2015/01/img_4127.jpg

10. Try to draw/ sketch / paint – It’s never to late to learn how to draw or to at least try to learn how to draw. So get up, get those paint and water-color, the brushes and the palette, get your hands dirty and bring back the kid in you. Eventually you will realize how fun it is to get yourself dirty and learn at the same time. Some doodling can be fun too.

2015/01/img_4131-0.jpg

11. Good old talk with a friend – Sometimes life can get so messy and all you have left to do is to contact that person you really trust so much. A good old catching up is enough to patch the lost time. Make sure though, you’re not disturbing your friend and that like you they too have some time to spare.

2015/01/img_4134-0.jpg

12. Clean the house – funny thing sometimes, is when you got nothing to do and the boredom brings out the best in you. Like you start cleaning the entire house. From mopping the floor, to cleaning the kitchen sink, or even the bath room floor, doing your laundry, changing the sheets, taking out the garbage. This I think is the most productive way of spending your spare time.

2015/01/img_4136.jpg

13. Food trip – whether you’re alone or you got company, eating will always be fun. Forget the calories, forget the fats. It’s not every day you get to eat and not mind anything at all. Where there is food, there will always be that someone dozing off with full stomach.

2015/01/img_4138.jpg

14. Bar hopping Surely those young spirited people can relate to this, bar hopping is so much fun specially when you’re with your “Bardaka”. Who wouldn’t like going to bars after bars and explore the city. You can also organize a cocktail party at your own place, but that’s too much of a hassle you don’t want spending the day after cleaning your mess.

2015/01/img_4140.jpg

15. Go the mall and play at the Game Zone – good thing about malls is that they offer you awful lot of things to choose from to make you occupied. One in particular is the game zone. Some people are so hooked they even visit the mall . Ow well, good thing about the game zone is that you can interact with other people who have the same interest as you. Although some of the games in the game zone are outdated, it is still a very proper way to spend your free time at.

2015/01/img_4142.jpg

16. Play with your pet – It’s not every that you get to spend a bit longer time with your pet. May it be a cat or dog or what ever it is that you’re fond of, they deserve to have a quality time with you. They spend their entire day waiting for you to go home, it is just right to pamper and spoil them sometimes.

2015/01/img_4144-0.jpg

17. Work-out Easy to say but very hard to carry out. But to those who are really body conscious and cares a lot to their well-being, working out is a very effective way of staying fit by burning unwanted fats, it can also clear your mind causing a positive disposition. You can also watch Work-out Videos while you do your own sweating.

2015/01/img_4146-0.jpg

18. Go to the nearest artificial park/ forest – reunite with nature, listen to the chirping birds, the rustling sound of the tree leaves, fill your lungs with fresh air, release your worries, be one with nature.

2015/01/img_4148.jpg

19. Chat with friends – now that social media is on its peak, why don’t you take advantage of it and reconnect with your friends aboard. Even internet base messaging app is within your reach. Communicating with your close relatives and friends is just a Send button away.

2015/01/img_4150.jpg

20. Rest : Sleep/ Nap – last, but not the least. The most basic form of relaxation I suppose. Everybody deserves a break, they may say, time is very precious to be spent in the comfort of your bed. I say, enjoy! You owe it to your body, to yourself. INDULGE!

2015/01/img_4152.jpg

What ever it is that you decide to do on weekends, just always remember to enjoy yourself. You deserve it, after a long and stressing work week.

Year 2015 : Please Be Good To Me

I’m not much of a New Year’s Resolution type of person, but I do believe that New Year brings us opportunity to start anew, a chance to do what we failed to do from our last year’s list, a new beginning, and a greater opportunity for greater achievements. And so for this year I will make a change and make a list of what I should have done years ago. This will become an outline of what my year 2015 is going to be.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/1cf/80396601/files/2015/01/img_3907.jpg
1. Eat More Healthy Foods – As much as possible, I will try to eat one healthy meal per day and be conscious of my daily food intake. I have noticed for the past years that I have become chubbier each year and each year I am anxious to look at myself in the mirror and see a completely different person than I once was during college days. Thin, sturdy and healthy person.

2. Be More Fit – I will regularize my exercise habits. Jog more often, stretch some muscles, and play more lawn Tennis. I should engaged into a sport where I can sweat more and burn more calories. I aim to restore the body I used to have back when I was very active to full contact sports and lawn tennis. I missed my abs, my biceps, and my sturdy body.

3. Be more time conscious – Time is money; a second loss, is a loss of money. Be more time conscious and be early on scheduled meetings and get together. Anticipate traffic and allocate extra time for travelling. Time is the most precious gift you can give to someone.

4. Travel More Often – Yes it is a fact that traveling costs a lot of money, and unless you are earning more than what you need you can travel as much as you want. But for me, being an average person earning an average monthly paycheck travelling is big a deal for me. I believe that travelling is a very essential part of living, It is what lets you experience and learned things that not taught in the four corner of the classroom. It teaches you to be wise, it enables you to do the things you never done before and it opens your eyes to endless possibilities. I resolve to continue what I started two years ago, Travelling to places I never been to before and exploring my country. Travelling aboard is on my list too, But I guess it would have to wait. I haven’t been able to travel half of the island of the Philippines, I still have a long way to travel.

5. Less Coffee, More Green Tea – In connection to being more fit, as much as possible I will decrease my caffeine in take and be more fond of drinking tea instead. Although they both have good benefits, according to the articles I read. But I would prefer tea over coffee for some personal reasons, and as per articles tea have more benefits that relates to being more fit and healthy. Since being more fit and healthy are the top two in my list, it is just right to choose tea.

6. Quit Smoking – last year I was almost successful on quitting smoking, for almost three months I survived not lighting a single-stick of cigarette then some circumstances revealed itself, and I got tempted to have a puff, one more puff, some more puff, and more, that’s when I got back to square one. Although I am not a chain smoker, I’m not even a daily smoker. But when I smoke specially when I’m hanging out with friends I tend to smoke a lot. Like “a lot” a lot. And so for this year, I will try my best to really lessen, if I can’t stop my smoking habit. But it would be very fulfilling if I can totally stop smoking, though.

7. Drink Less Alcoholic Beverages – you know I’d like to put “stop drinking alcoholic beverages” but who Am I kidding. I’m being realistic here, you can’t stop things like that. There are lots of reasons why we should drink every now and then, evidently it defeats the idea of stop drinking. It is a very good way of socializing, closing deals, meeting new acquaintances, drowning your sorrows and problems, most importantly I think when you get drunk, like wasted drunk – it brings out the honestly in you, like you can cry your heart out. And you really don’t care coz you’re having a good time and nobody can take that away from. Yes there’s a lot of cons to that, but there’s no harm in getting wasted once in a while. Hence, my 7th resolution, drink less.

8. Save More, Spend Less – Last year was rather a low year for me, in terms of savings. I had a lot of unwise spending and impulsive purchases, although it was all worth it I guess I could have been more wise and bought things that are more valuable. But enough of the “what could have & What If’s”, and so for 2015 and the years to come. I aim to be more wise in spending and purchasing things. To weigh the pros and cons of each purchase, and to really decide if I really need it, or is it just for luxury. This is in connection to my fourth resolution, in order for me to travel more I should have enough savings and budget to do so.

9. Be More Loving & Caring – I aim to be more loving, Caring, understanding, patient, giving, and to be always full of positive vibes to share.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/1cf/80396601/files/2015/01/img_3927.jpg
10. Be More Generous – The best feeling of happiness is when you’re happy because you’ve made somebody else happy. Nothing really beats the feeling of happiness you feel when ever you reach out and help someone. This year and to the years to come, I aim to help more people; give food to those who are hungry, clothes to those who have nothing to wear, or even the simplest act of kindness can go along way. Just because I don’t have much, doesn’t mean I cannot help others in my own little way. I know I have touched some lives, and the feeling of fulfillment will forever linger.

11. To Show Appreciation To The People Who Loves Me – One of the things that I will change this year is to be more appreciative of the people who surrounds and love me. To show them that I am aware that they exists and I am very grateful to be able to spend some time with them and share some memories together. I will be more transparent and tell them once in a while that I love them and that I care for them. I may not be very vocal and sometimes can get so insensitive and thoughtless, but I can be very emotional at times. I wish I can put into one single word and tell it to them, how happy I am for being a part of there lives, and them to mine.

12. Have More Love, Faith & Hope – To be more faithful to our creator, to be forever thankful for the things that I have, the people that I’m with, for all the opportunities, the second chances, all the blessings, the challenges and hardships, for all the things that He made possible. For giving me another year to live and always believing in my potential. To Him that in spite of all my wrong doings, failures and sins; have always been there for me. Silently looking out for me and guiding me to the right path. To God almighty, who makes all things possible.

Exploring Underwater World In Just One Breathe

“Yes I Live it. The sea is everything. It covers seven-tenths of the terrestrial globe. Its breath is pure and healthy. It is an immense desert where man is never alone for he feels life. Quivering around him in every side. There is supreme tranquility. The sea does not belong to despots. On its surface iniquitous rights can still be exercised, men can fight there. Devour each other there, and transport all terrestrial horrors there. But at thirty feet below its level their power ceases. Their influences dies out, their might disappears.

I can say I am lucky to be living in a city where the beach is just a ride away. Whenever I have time, my cousin and I would prep our snorkeling gears and hit the road. I never get tired of doing it, in fact I am always excited… ALWAYs!!! The beach – or the sea in general gives me a kind of energy that I can’t explain. There’s no boring moments in the beach!

I know exactly why I love free diving; for one it gives me a satisfying feeling – of knowing that I am conserving every bit of oxygen in my system just to stay under water for as long as I could. I can barely stay longer but couple more tries and I know I’ll get there soon. Second – is that knowledge of being one with the sea, I am all alone, I can relax my mind and focus to what is in front of me – the water world. Third, is that it gives me the opportunity to explore what is beneath the clear blue water. I get to discover the beauty of God’s creation. Forth is the thrill – of not knowing what Sea creature will I encounter next. May it be an ordinary fish, a clown or even a lion fish. If you’re lucky enough you may get see sea turtles. That is actually one of the main reason why I love free diving that much. The sea offers a lot of surprising things, things I never thought I’d be able to see. It is full of endless possibilities.

IMG_1719.JPG At the end of every beach day, I would look back to the day’s activity and admire myself! God! I’m that brave. FYI, I don’t swim that good, in fact I really don’t know how to swim. If not for the fins, i would never dare to go 7ft – 8ft water deep. But see, I’ve conquered my fear over & over again. That’s how big a risk I get into, every time I free dive. But with the right companion and a bucket full of determination, everything is possible. You just have to have faith to yourself. We can all conquer our fear!!!
